After investing a large sum of money in your new outdoor kitchen and living space, it is now time to dress the area up with some decorative pieces to give it a little more personality, and charm. The option of adding outdoor rugs in a few key areas will give your new addition a softer, and more home like feel without having to spend a fortune. There are several categories of area rugs for exterior use that you can choose from, and the only issue will be budget depending on the brand and or retailer that you select. Your next biggest concern will be color, and how it will blend with your intended decor.

Use Natural Outdoor Rugs

The use of natural products for exterior living will be a better choice as they will last much longer than trying to use the normal wool area rugs that people buy for the interior of their homes. Try to stick with Coir, Seagrass, or Sisal type of floor coverings when dressing up your outside living, or dining room. They are made from coconut fibers, Agave plants, or farm raised saltwater grass, and are engineered by nature to stand up to just about any type of weather situation. Ironically by choosing these more earth friendly products you will be saving money as well, as they cost much less than imported Egyptian cotton, or wool from Europe to produce.

Natural Outdoor Rugs Area Easy To Clean

There is little to do with upkeep on natural outdoor area rugs, and mostly a high powered shop-vac and a stiff bristled broom will perform all cleaning tasks that will need to keep them looking like new. During the their life time, you may have an issue of the corners curling up, and this is easily fixed by douse the problem areas with water to get them to lay back down. Also, if your natural rugs get very light in shade, then that means they will need a little moisture to regain their original state. Simply spraying them down lightly with a garden hose away from your outdoor furniture will do the trick, and the excess will run off.

We love using our natural area rugs here in Spring Texas, and when we are through with them, they go straight into the compost barrel for one more use in the garden.
